Celebrating Women’s History Month at NUE

In honor of Women’s History Month,

We want to shine a light on the incredible women in our community who’ve inspired us—and who made our Lunar New Year of the Snake celebration (and so many other events) truly unforgettable. From artists and poets to tattoo artists, jewelry designers, and florists, these visionaries embody the creativity, resilience, and unity we cherish at NUE.

Kim Truong, Tattoo Artist (11:11 Tattoo Studio)

Kim’s stunning Neo-Japanese, Asian, and Fine Line aesthetic has made her one of the DC area’s most sought-after tattoo artists. We were honored to have her design our Lunar New Year menu cover, blending lush, decorative details with floral and animal imagery to capture the transformative spirit of the Year of the Snake.

Thu Anh Nguyen, Artist & Poet

Thu Anh is a Vietnamese writer, artist, activist, and educator whose work centers on equity and justice. Her thoughtful essays and large-scale floral art have supported movements like Black Lives Matter and Say Her Name. We collaborated with Thu Anh for our New Year celebrations—her poetry helped us welcome good fortune and positivity for the year ahead.

Mindy Lam, Jewelry Artist

Mindy took our Lunar New Year festivities to the next level with her exclusive Year of the Snake jewelry collection, featuring intricately woven metal lace adorned with crystals, semi-precious stones, and other precious metals. Born on a chicken farm in Hong Kong without any formal art training, her dazzling designs have since graced red carpets and prestigious collections alike. Her signature metal lace technique has been showcased at Henri Bendel in New York, featured in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and highlighted by Elle, Brides Magazine, Glamour, People, L’Officiel, and Vogue Italia.

A kidney disease survivor and transplant recipient, Mindy’s personal story fuels her philanthropic spirit. We were humbled to partner with her for our Year of the Snake celebration, where her brilliant pieces brought a radiant dimension to our Lunar New Year festivities.

Amy Cushing, Floral Designer (Catherine Lee Florals)

The beautiful blooms you see at NUE are courtesy of Amy, who owns Catherine Lee Florals in Falls Church. Her romantic, garden-inspired arrangements bring so much life and color to our dining space. You can catch her work at Art in Bloom DC (March 20–23, 2025) at the Anderson House in Dupont Circle.

Each of these women has enriched our community with her talent, passion, and dedication, and we’ve been privileged to work alongside them. If you want to see more of their amazing work or get involved in our future collaborations, stay tuned to our social media and newsletter for updates.

To all the phenomenal women who inspire us daily—thank you for your contributions, your artistry, and your unwavering commitment to making our world more vibrant and beautiful.

With gratitude,
